Bike Identification Keeping Effort

s the result of the increase in bike thefts and bike related robberies
in many parts of the City, a program to register these bikes has
been implemented on a city-wide basis. This voluntary program
focuses on registration, identification and recovery of bicycles.
Currently operating in the Northeast police division, implementation
of this program city-wide will ensure the uniformity of bike registration
and recovery.
Citizens wishing to participate will be able to bring their
bicycles to district headquarters throughout the city. At the
district they will complete a registration form containing their
name, address, etc., and information about their bikes. This
form will be numbered to correspond with a pre-printed sticker
issued to the owner to be affixed to the bike. This same number
will then be stamped onto the bike using a metal punch.
District community relations officers will be responsible to
aggressively promote this program, schedule registrations and
maintain a file of all registered bicycles within their respective
districts. A file of all registered bikes will be maintained
in the district operations room, accessible to all personnel
to aid in the
