T he Police Radio Advisory Board (PRAB) is a non-profit organization established as a result of a Philadelphia mayor's commission that was investigating the operations of the city's Police

Emergency "911" System. The commission recommended the establishment of an advisory board that would represent the citizens of Philadelphia with the police department when problems arose with "911."

The stated mission of PRAB is to develop a partnership with the Philadelphia Police Department in an effort to resolve problems citizens may have with "911," act as a liaison between the police department and the community, provide assistance in working to improve "911" operations and to educate the citizens of Philadelphia on the operations and functions of "911."

We have worked with the staff of Police Radio in resolving difficulties that community organizations and individuals have with "911." We have produced a video explaining the operations of "911" that has been used to educate community groups and school students on the proper use of the emergency response system. A coloring/activity book has been developed to teach young grade school children how to use "911" in an emergency situation. Our efforts have been extremely well received by organizations and teachers in the various school programs.

PRAB is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. If you have further questions regarding PRAB, please contact Police Radio Advisory Board President Paul Andris at 215-464-8495, or the Commanding Officer of the Police Communications Division at 215-686-3125.
