reated in 1954 due to an explosion that killed ten firefighters,
this fund ensures that the children of Police Officers and Firefighters
killed or severely disabled in the line of duty can receive financial
assistance to complete their education.
Since its inception, over 800 students assisted by this fund
have graduated from various colleges and universities. Today
there are 50 students attending schools on these scholarships.
The main source of funding is through the sale of tickets to
the annual Hero Thrill Show. This show, which is typically held
in September, has local celebrities, sport figures, along with
demonstrations by police units and firefighters, entertaining
hundreds of people.
We need your financial support in order to make this event
a success.
The families of these fallen heroes will be extremely grateful
if you can afford to purchase tickets or just make a contribution
to this worthwhile program. When a show is scheduled, tickets
are $10.00 each.
For further information or to purchase tickets for an upcoming
show, contact your local police district, the Philadelphia Police
Community Relations Unit, your local firehouse, the Fraternal
Order of Police Lodge #5 or IAFF Local 22, the firefighters
union.
