7th Police District is one of four Districts in the Northeast
Police Division. Our eastern boundary is Roosevelt Boulevard,
the western boundary is Pine Road, the southern boundary is Rhawn
Street and the northern boundary is County Line Road.
The District encompasses an area of approximately 13.55 square
miles, which makes it the second largest in the city. The district
has been it's present size since the creation of the 8th Police
District in 1980. The district is predominately comprised of
residential homes. There are approximately 86,500 people living
in the District. The racial composition of the district is 95%
white, while the remainder of the populace is distributed among
other various ethnic groups (African American, Asians and Latino).
During the past several years, there has been a large influx
of Soviet Immigrants settling in the district. In 1999, there
were 50350 calls for service handled by the 7th District officers.
There are: 23 churches and/or synagogues, 11 elementary and
1 high school, 41 commercial zones, 5 recreation centers, 8
Town Watch groups and 4 Civic Associations. Pennypack Park encompasses
1,600 acres inside the city much of which is located within
the 7th District. The postal zone numbers within the district
are 19111,19115 and 19116.
The Captain is the Commanding Officer of the District. Assigned
personnel consists of approximately 135 sworn officers including
Lieutenants, Sergeants, Corporals and Police Officers. The Crime
Prevention Officer, Community Relations Officer, Victim Assistance
Officer and the Sanitation Officer make up the foundation of
the District's Community Policing Team.
The mission of the Officers of the 7th District is to work
in a true partnership with the community and to enhance the
quality of life in the district. In accomplishing these goals;
Service will be our commitment, Honor and Integrity our mandate.
