T he 19th District is located in West Philadelphia with its Headquarters at 6059 Haverford Avenue. It is one of the busier districts in the city with over 200 Officers assigned.

The southern boundary for the district is Market Street with the northern and western boundary being City Avenue. The eastern boundary begins at 52nd and Market Streets, extending north to Girard Avenue where the eastern boundary moves to 44th Street and extends north to City Avenue. We are bordered on the south by the 18th District, the east by the 16th District and on the west by Lower Merion Township. The district covers well over five square miles of territory, making it one of the larger districts in the city.

Saint Joseph's University is located within the confines of the 19th District with its main campus building located in the area of 54th Street and City Avenue. Additionally, we are the home of the Adam's Mark Hotel and the Holiday Inn, both located at City Avenue and Presidential Boulevard. Recently, the Twelve Caesars Restaurant and Banquet Hall at City Avenue and Stout Road opened the Radisson Twelve Caesars Hotel at their location. This same area encompasses the City Avenue Special Services District, which is a joint effort between Philadelphia and Lower Merion. This program provides extra services to the business community along City Avenue. Due to this effort, this strip offers some of the best dining and shopping experiences in the Philadelphia area.

The 19th District is home to several federally funded programs that are designed to improve the quality of life for our residents. The West Philadelphia Empowerment Zone and the Weed and Seed programs are shared with the 16th District and provide funding for more intensive police patrols, low cost business loans, after school programs and home beautification efforts. The Haddington Town House program is a H.U.D. sponsored grant that allows for special programs to be conducted in the Haddington Town Houses, located in the area of 54th Street and Wyalusing Avenue. These programs include police after school educational programs, town watch programs, computer and job training, just to name a few.

As part of our ongoing effort to maintain continuous communications with the residents, we have several officers that can respond directly to the concerns of our community. These officers are the Community Relations Officer, Sanitation Officer, Crime Prevention Officer, Victim Assistance Officer and the Abandoned Vehicles Officer. Any of these officers can be contacted Monday through Friday.
