T he 25th Police District is 5.40 square miles, which is 4.20% of the land area of Philadelphia. It is the eighth largest of the 23 Police Districts and it covers parts of the Postal Zip Code Areas 19120, 19133, 19134 and 19140.

The boundaries of the district are as follows: On the North: The Frankford Creek from "G" Street to the Roosevelt Boulevard, the Roosevelt Boulevard from the Frankford Creek to 9th Street, and Wingohocking Street from 9th Street to Broad Street. On the South: Lehigh Avenue from Front Street to Broad Street. On the East: "G" Street from Allegheny Avenue to Frankford Creek. On the West: Broad Street from Lehigh Avenue to Wingohocking Street.

Topographically, the district is rather flat. Streets tend to be small and housing density is most intense in the southern and eastern sections of the district.

The composition of the 25th District is quite diverse. The area is a combination of residential, commercial, and heavy industry. Some of the shopping areas run virtually the entire length of the district. For example, Germantown Avenue and Erie Avenue. Both of these areas are comprised of small businesses and commercial enterprises. Many of these shops are owned by Asians and Latinos. The large manufacturing companies are concentrated in the eastern and north-eastern sections of the district. There is also a portion of the American Street Business Corridor within the district.

INHABITANTS
According to the 1990 Census Report, the 25th District has 82,377 persons residing within its boundaries. The racial breakdown of the district is as follows:
White : 15,695
Latino : 36,078
African American : 18,364
Other : 12,240

PERSONNEL
There are currently approximately 250 Police Officers assigned to the district. The majority of these officers work sector cars, responding to radio calls and crimes in progress. There are also administrative officers that handle the various quality of life violations. Below is a listing of these officers. The administrative officers can be contacted by phone at (215) 685-9964.

25th District officers responded to 124,760 calls for service. The officers assigned to the 25th District are among the busiest and hardest working officers in the entire city. The work load is not the only obstacle these officers face, but because of the multi-cultural environment the language barrier is also a challenge. Whatever the difficulty, the 25th District will continue to provide the highest quality service to the citizenry.
