T The mission of the Environmental Response Unit is to address conditions that have or may have an effect on the environment. This may be a result of an accident or criminal acts such as illegal dumping.

ERU utilizes uniform officers from our headquarters and a network of district assigned officers to enforce the code of regulations for Philadelphia. In addition to these officers, plainclothes officers working from our headquarters are charged with the responsibility to investigate environmental crimes. These crimes range from neighborhood illegal dumping complaints to the illegal disposal of hazardous waste.
