Awarded for an extraordinary act of courage, without regard
to personal safety while engaged in actual combat with an
armed and dangerous adversary.
Commendation
for Bravery
Awarded for the performance of an outstanding arrest where
the officer's effort is met by an armed and dangerous adversary.
Commendation
for Heroism
Awarded for an act of courage without regard to personal
safety, which places the officer in imminent physical danger
in efforts to effect a rescue or save a life.
Commendation
for Merit
Awarded for a highly intelligent and valuable act of police
service which demonstrates special initiative and perseverance
in the performance of police duties.
Commendatory
Citation
For an arrest or any police service showing exceptional
courage, intelligence, or integrity in the performance of
routine duty.
RNC
Service Ribbon
Awarded to officers who served with excellence and dedication
under extraordinary circumstances during the Republican
National Convention held in Philadelphia during July and
August of 2000.
Military
Service Ribbon
Awarded to Philadelphia Police Officers who are serving
or who have served honorably in any branch of the United
States Armed Forces.
Important Notice:
The
uniforms worn by the Philadelphia Police Department
have security features recognizable to other Philadelphia
Police Officers.
Impersonating a police officer is a violation
of section 4912 of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code.
Such infractions are aggressively prosecuted by
the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office.
